Trout Fishing 2021

This was a special year for trout fishing.  With almost all of my buddies and me working from home, or on summer break, we found time to visit some amazing trout streams in PA, and a few outside of the state as well.

It's important to remember that while trout fishing is fun, it truly becomes special when shared with good friends.  Wes and I fished together on almost every one of these streams.  The memories he and I made this year will last a lifetime ... for better or worse.  I also fished quite a bit with Matt and Mike, who also share a special place in my heart, and on The Wall.  Paul, Dan, Mark, Dan, and Kenny were also part of this journey.  And last but far from least I want to give a very special congratulations to my son Charlie who caught his first trout on a fly rod this year.  Way to go bud!

There is no way I can recount all the adventures we had this year or share pictures of all the fish, but I'll put some of the best photos below.  Enjoy.

I nice wild brown from the Neversink. What a wild and beautiful place!

One of my biggest fish from Penns. Wes and I fished it for the first time ever in late June.
Picture
My biggest wild trout ever! It came from a tributary to the Delaware river in October.
Picture
A tiger trout from West Virginia. It was probably stocked, but who knows.
Picture
I really nice brown from Spring Creek in October. I caught it on a blowtorch just before some rain started.
Picture
Wes caught a bunch of nice rainbows out of this hole on Balls Creek in October.
Picture
We caught dozens and dozens of these in a bunch of different creeks. But apparently it's bad manners to name creeks that have native brookies.
Picture
Logan Branch in Bellefonte is an amazing little creek. The browns in there have the best colors I've seen.

Oh man! Christine thought this was funny. It wasn't!

My first wild rainbow ever. Big Spring with Paul.

After catching wild trout all summer, it felt good to catch a hard-fighting stocked rainbow from the Broadhead.

They don't only eat dry flies. Shocker.

A nice Mud Run brown.
