Fish 'n Feast IV
May, 2019
Trout, Trout, and more Trout
Fish 'n Feast IV was originally scheduled for late April, but a combination of nasty weather and busy schedules cancelled it. We hadn't considered re-scheduling, but one thing led to another and on May 9th four guys from the TinBoats crew found themselves climbing into the big white Suburban way too early on a beautiful Thursday morning.
Wes, Mike, Jason, and Jordan pulled up to Muddy Creek at about 6:30am and immediately started fishing. Well, actually it took 30 minutes for people to finish coffee, string up rods, climb into waders, and even wander off into the woods with some toilet paper. Anyway, the trout attack started soon after and didn't let up until late afternoon. Jason and his infamous Stampede spinning rod won the morning with a staggering 20 fish! He was so confident in those numbers that he literally went back to the truck at 10:30 and took a nap. That gave Jordan and his fly rod enough time to almost catch up. Almost. Mike and Wes were also catching fish consistently with a few wild browns mixed in. The traditional stream-side lunch included New York strip steaks grilled to perfection, roasted potatoes prepared by Mike, steamed fresh green beans, and of course some chocolate chip cookies. I think Jason was confused. This was his first Fish 'n Feast and the Feast part was more than he's used to. He did graciously offer to bring some KFC next time. We hung out for a while, but eventually got back into the water and the catching continued. That section of the stream is jammed packed full of willing trout. The beat down went on all afternoon and the final total for the group was somewhere close to 70 fish. That's flat out ridiculous. Absolutely one of the best days of trout fishing I've ever seen. Ever! |
